You've finally said I Do and now it's time to party! Make sure you have the time of your life at your wedding reception by avoiding these six common mistakes.
You don't eat too much.
With
all of the excitement and the need to mix and mingle, it can be easy to
forget to eat during the event. But you methodically planned that
menu--and probably spent a great deal of money on it--so why not enjoy
it? Not to mention that partying on an empty stomach can lead to big
problems.
You drink too much.
Of
course, you want to have fun at your reception, but there is nothing
worse than a boozed up bride. You are the center of attention that day,
so if you get wasted, people will definitely notice (and talk about it
for years to come). So leave the heavy partying to your bachelorette
party!
You skip the greetings.
Even
if some of the guests are people you don't know that well, such as your
parents' friends or business associates, you need to make sure that you
greet each and every guest at your wedding. You don't want anyone to
leave feeling offended.
You spend too much time mingling.
On
the other hand, some brides feel pressure to spend all of their time
mixing and mingling with guests, and wind up missing out on a lot of the
party. Just take a few moments with each guest to say hello and thank
them for coming to your special day--that's all most people are
expecting. Then you can use the rest of the time to dance the night
away!
You forget to spend time with your groom.
Take
a few minutes to steal some alone time with your groom--it might be the
only time you have just the two of you the entire day!
You pay too much attention to the details.
When
you walk into your reception space, you'll want to take in all of the
décor details you worked so hard on to create your wedding day vision.
But don’t get caught up in every minor detail--especially if certain
things weren't done exactly to your specifications. Guests won’t realize
that you wanted rose pink peonies instead of blush, so you shouldn't
let it affect you either.
